Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition

Two years ago, when I got Chaos Legion from my friend Felix, I used to think that it was the best hack n slash game I had ever play, despite of the GameSpot loathing about the game. It used to be the best hack n slash action game I played, until recently I got Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, and now I understand why GameSpot rate Chaos Legion very bad, because the game was a stripped-down version of Devil May Cry!

In Devil May Cry 3 (Actually, it's supposed to be the prequel to the two series before), our hero Dante was sitting in his office eating pizza, when a mysterious guy named Arkham came into his office, delivered an 'invitation' from Dante's brother Vergil, flipped his office desk, and sent some Hell Prides to wreck his office. Pissed with the damage done to his office, Dante decided to pay his brother a visit. While making his way to the tower where Vergil was waiting, Dante met a mysterious girl called Lady, who launched a rocket to his face as a greeting. The plot gets interesting when the true intention of Vergil and Arkham was to open the door to Demon World which was sealed by Sparda (Dante and Vergil's demon father), Dante had to save the world from turning into demonville..

Dante / Vergil / Lady (Mary) / Arkham

Unlike Chaos Legion, in which the characters Sieg only have one sword and Arcia only have a pair of gun, Dante is allowed to carry two melee and two ranged weapons at a time. Starting with Dante's trademark sword Rebellion and handguns Ebony & Ivory, you'll collect many weapons, including a bat-summoning electric guitar Nevan and Lady's rocket launcher Kalina Ann.

Your arsenals of demon-bashing

Through the missions of DMC3, you'll meet vicious enemies, and lunatic bosses which try to rip Dante apart. But fear not though, as our hero Dante is actually not a human - he's a half demon and a half human. And it makes him strong enough to take a shot in his head and walk away as if it's nothing.

Meet DMC3's lunatic bosses

DMC3 gameplay mechanics allows you to execute brutal moves. One of the things you can do is riding on top of your enemy's back like a snowboard, and shooting bullets all the way. You can also expect crazy actions from Dante, such as rocket-riding, jumping down the tower without parachute, and smacking demons using a motorbike.

DMC3 redefines the concept of 'cool'

This game is very cool, really. It really kicks Chaos Legion in the butt (which GameSpot questioned why Capcom chose to port that game to PC rather than Devil May Cry). I think this game will stay in my hard disk for a long time, as I try to unlock some features in the game. Be warry though, as playing this game in PC will require you to have a good gamepad, since some combat mechanics cannot be unleashed using keyboard. After beating the game once using Dante, you'll be able to select Vergil as the playable character. Although Vergil is strong at first, I get the feeling that playing him is not as enjoyable as playing Dante..
